MANEVRE SHAMANICE

Shamans keep nothing to themselves. To empty themselves in this fashion is a shaman's maneuver. It leads them to abandon the fortress of the self.

Shamanii nu tin nimic pentru ei. A se goli in acest mod este o manevra shamanica. Ii duce la abandonarea fortaretei sinelui.

Tensegrity is an art: the art of adapting to one's own energy, and to each other's energy in a way that contributes to the integrity of the community that we are.
Carlos Castaneda
Tensegrity este o arta: arta de a ne adapta la energia personala, si la energia celorlalti intr-un mod in care sa contribuim la integritatea comunitatii care sintem.

In Womb Series, we will practice magical passes and tracking exercises to build our core of energy, and access the state of well-womb-being in key areas of our relationships with self and others--feeling, thinking, as well as sleep and movement. We will look at where our energy and awareness gets lost under the debris of circumstance and habit, and identify where we learned our habits, so that we might release those that don't work, and embrace and learn new ones that do!

Emphasis will be placed on supporting ourselves and each other in establishing a simple daily practice of going within to tap the natural perception of the womb: direct attunement with Spirit.

All the magical passes help increase self-discipline. It might be helpful both for practitioners who have trouble starting their practice, and for those who find it difficult to know when to stop, to review what shamans mean by "discipline." Don Juan describes this to Carlos Castaneda in the Active Side of Infinity:
" . . . by discipline, I don't mean harsh routines. I don't mean waking up every morning at five-thirty and throwing cold water on yourself until you're blue. Sorcerers understand discipline as the capacity to face with serenity odds that are not included in our expectations. For them, discipline is an art: the art of facing infinity without flinching, not because they are strong and tough, but because they are filled with awe." (p. 224)

Q: Let's consider the meaning of the word "spirituality" to be a state of consciousness in which human beings are fully capable of controlling the potentials of the species, something achieved by transcending the simple animal condition through a hard psychic, moral and intellectual training. Do you agree with this assertion? How is don Juan's world integrated into this context?

A: For don Juan Matus, a pragmatic and extremely sober shaman, "spirituality" was an empty ideality, an assertion without basis that we believe to be very beautiful because it is encrusted with literary concepts and poetic expressions, but which never goes beyond that.
Shamans like don Juan are essentially practical. For them there only exists a predatory universe in which intelligence or awareness is the product of life and death challenges. He considered himself a navigator of infinity and said that in order to navigate into the unknown like a shaman does, one needs unlimited pragmatism, boundless sobriety and guts of steel.
In view of all this, don Juan believed that "spirituality" is simply a description of something impossible to achieve within the patterns of the world of everyday life, and it is not a real way of acting.
