A DIFFERENT KIND OF CHRISTMAS

Everything about ‘Christmas’ as we know, is mostly pagan. Every scholar knows that Christ was not born in 1 AD at this time of year. Christmas traditions are from the festival of Yule celebrated by European Norse peoples who practiced the old rituals and customs of the Cult of Divine Kingship specifically and on the Solstice from 20 to 25 December.
Odin was their main God King and father of all the other Gods. To mark the birth of the new sun at the Winter Solstice, Odin became the ‘Hunter’ flying through the air on his phantom steed on a Wild Hunt. His cloak is the pelt of the King Stag who he has slain and worn inside out to display the fresh crimson blood.
This blood and the hunt show his sovereignty over the land. His hair is white as wool to signify his status as the old King Stag harkening the birth of the new light, the new sun, the new king. All who witness this hunt on the eve of Yule, when the light is to be reborn and the sun come unto the earth anew, will perish if their soul weighs too light, or be rewarded with a bounty of gifts if their spirit be true.
This ‘Red & Bloody Sovereign of Stags’ is my kind of Santa! When Odin sacrificed himself on the evergreen World Tree, the Yggdrasil, he gained the knowledge of the runes, the knowledge of writing for all mankind. When he opened his mouth to speak the words, vines poured forth from his lips and sought the earth.
And thus, through the King, the heavens and the earth were joined by the light of human understanding and secret wisdom. Today, all who follow the Cult of Divine Kingship keep Yule and all its Norse traditions well at this time of year. When you put up your tree, it is an act of worship and a symbol of the Yggdrasil.
The baubles and garlands twisting around it are a symbol of the heavenly spheres and the movement of shamans around the tree of life. All gifts given are in remembrance for the gifts that Odin places upon those who seek his wisdom and share solidarity with their kin in good spirit.
For all who follow the Cult of Divine Kingship, for all Free Gnostics, Christmas is their ‘Mass for the new Messiah’ and all its trappings and customs are an act of veneration for the birth of the solar king and his sacrifice for our knowledge and evolution.
Let all who look upon the carved face of the Green Man in holy places; be reminded not of fertility and mere pagan concerns for fecundity, or even of the attempt of the Church to convert pagans. When you look upon the Green Man, recognise the true face of the ‘One God’ and the ‘Head of the King’.
For all who have his wisdom will recognise this simple truth: The Head of the King is the Seat of all Knowledge; The Knowledge is the Grail; The Grail is the Word; The Word is the Vine; The Vine is the Land; The King and the Land are One!!! Happy Christmas everyone and Happy Hunting.
