My Quick Tips On Kitchen Feng Shui

Most modern kitchens today are good looking and don't really present any major feng shui problems but there are a few important things to remember when redesigning or painting your kitchen.

The most important thing is the placement of the stove/oven which should be positioned to take advantage of your auspicious directions based on your kua number. If you do not know your kua number and best directions then Click Here to learn more.

Quick Tips on Kitchen Feng Shui
  • The sink should not confront the stove since this pits water against fire which represents a clash of elements.
  • The refrigerator and dishwasher should be placed away from the stove/oven
  • The actual cooking area should not be in the Northwest part of the kitchen as this represents Fire at Heaven's Gate

    Green Colour Scheme works
well in the East or SE
  • No open shelving please. Shelves should be closed with doors which can be of glass, wood or plastic.
  • Use colours that harmonize with the element of the direction and location of the kitchen as follows:
  • White kitchens are excellent if they are located in the West or Northwest part of the house (metal element) but red should not be used as part of the colour scheme in this location.
  • Yellow kitchens should be in the earth corners of Northeast and Southwest locations and avoid using a colour scheme of green or blue here.
  • If your kitchen is in the North, you can use a colour combination of blue, black and white but not yellow, beige or cream.
  • Kitchens in the East or Southeast benefit from a green dominated colour scheme but don't use red or white here.

    Tiles are best choice
    for kitchen flooring
  • Kitchens in the South should not be red in colour even though this is a fire element location as this would signify excessive fire energy - use beige instead.
  • Tiles are good for flooring in the kitchen as this gives excellent grounding energy. Best not to use wood, carpet or linoleum for flooring here.
  • Kitchens that have windows are better than kitchens that do not.
  • Never allow odours to get too strong...and most importantly do not let your kitchen get cluttered up with left over food.

These are just a few of the tips found in my book "Feng Shui For Interiors". If you enjoyed learning this information then you can find much more about kitchen design and how to decorate and improve the feng shui of all the rooms of your home in this book. You'll love the updated charts for 2011 and 2012 as they relate to the decor of your home.

All the best,
