INVICTUS-William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
Din noaptea care ma acopera
Neagra ca putul fara fund ce uneste polii
Le multumesc zeilor, oricare ar fi ei
Pentru sufletul meu de necucerit.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
In circumstantele amestecate si potrivnice
Nu am clipit, nu am strigat
Sub loviturile norocului
Capul meu este plin de singe, dar neplecat.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.
De cealalta parte a acestui loc
al miniei si lacrimilor

nu este decit oroare si umbra
si totusi amenintarea anilor
ma gaseste si ma va gasi netemator.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
Nu conteaza cit de strimta este poarta
Cit de incarcat pergamentul de pedepse
Eu sint stapinul soartei mele
Sint capitanul sufletului meu.
